Everyone’s Singing Group are a charity based in Arbourthorne, Sheffield, who run singing groups for vulnerable people as a way to combat loneliness and isolation. I joined a singing session as part of my research and worked together with members to develop a creative direction that communicated the friendliness and accessibility of the group.
We landed on using reviews written by members on Facebook about how much they enjoy singing with the group. This felt like the truest expression of their organisation—words that had been shared, not for marketing purposes, but just because they love meeting every week to sing together.

The group went on to work with composer Luke Carver Goss on an original song entitled ‘Skyline Cranes’, which they performed before a matinée of ‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The song was about their experiences of home in Arbourthorne, Manor and Castle—their communities, stories and city.
Written by Chris Bush and Richard Hawley ‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ is a musical that follows the intertwining stories of three families living at the Park Hill estate in Sheffield, across it's optimistic opening and complex history.
