Roving Women

Connie Converse deliberately disappeared in 1974. An unappreciated songwriter, decades ahead of her time, she was never seen again. 40 years after her disappearance, ‘Roving Women’ was an evening of music and film created by Nat Johnson, celebrating Connie and the kitchen recordings she made in 1950s New York.

Nat wrote and performed new arrangements of Connie’s songs, alongside two original songs and the excellent documentary by Andrea Kannes, "We Lived Alone". Accompanied by her band—Katherine Jackson, Hannah Cartledge, Oliver Allchin, Chris Loftus and Neil Piper and Cornerstone Brass Band—Nat took the show to Sensoria Festival in Sheffield, Hebden Bridge Arts Festival and The Lexington in London.
